What options do you have?
Upgrading to Windows 11 from Windows 10 can be an exciting prospect, offering enhanced features, improved security, and a more modern interface. However, for many businesses, the cost of replacing older devices to meet the new system requirements can be prohibitive.
Fortunately, for a lot of businesses there are alternative strategies to ensure you can remain secure and operational without breaking the bank.
Many devices running Windows 10 can be upgraded to Windows 11 without having to spend budget on new hardware. You can check if your device meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11 using the PC Health Check app.
For businesses unable to upgrade all devices to Windows 11 immediately, Microsoft offers Extended Security Updates (ESU) for Windows 10.
This service allows you to receive critical and important security updates for Windows 10 PCs when you need extra time to move to Windows 11, ensuring they remain protected against vulnerabilities.
By purchasing an ESU license, businesses can continue to use their existing hardware operating Windows 10 while maintaining a secure environment.
ESUs are not a long-term fix. They are a temporary bridge to keep your organisation secure while you migrate to Windows 11 in the longer term.
Utilising the extended security option for your legacy devices gives you the opportunity to plan a phased approach to upgrading, allowing you to manage cost more effectively.
ESUs won't bring new features, non-security fixes, or design changes. Some third-party software may not support Windows 10 with ESUs.
ESUs shouldn’t be used as a long-term fix, eventually, you will need to upgrade to Windows 11 across your entire environment. ESUs give you a grace period, allowing you to adopt a phased upgrade approach.
At ACS IT Services we know that security is critical to any business but also appreciate that managing budgets is difficult, which is why it is always useful to look at different ways to manage the needs of your business.
